Red Owl Clover (Orthocarpus purpurascens) This plant was photographed in March 2005 in Sierra Blanca Canyon Wash.
These flowers (and their bracts) are "dark red-purple", their "leaves threadlike, with threadlike segments" (Niehaus et al, cited on main wildflower page, p.244; Epple, ditto, p.230). As the images show, the flowers stand very erect. Here below is a close view of the flower: (Click on the image to enlarge it.) Below, the leaves, which (like the stem shown above), are hairy:
